Welcome to my corner of the Internet.

If you’ve ever wanted to write, if you feel like there’s a story somewhere inside you that can’t WAIT to get out, then this is the blog for you.

I don’t have an MFA in creative writing. But I do have a particular set of skills I’ve gained through the years of my writing journey. I’ve written short stories, personal essays, and a full-length novel.

Yep, that’s me!

Yep, that’s me!

I’ve just started the process of looking for an agent while simultaneously starting my second novel.

So, what can you expect?

1. How to find inspiration

Staring at a blank page can feel overwhelming. If you start with brainstorming and planning before sitting down to write, it can make the whole process MUCH easier. Trust me.

2. How to implement a writing habit

It can be difficult to find time to write. Especially if you work full-time, have another part-time job, have a social life, or, really, if you have anything else going on in your life. It would be nice if there were hours upon hours in the day to devote to brainstorming, editing, and writing, but that simply isn’t the case.

I’ll share specific tips and tricks I’ve learned to make sure I’m devoting enough time to my writing projects.

3. How to actually write a book

I’ll discuss structuring a novel, the various methods of outlining, forming believable characters, realistic dialogue, and all those nitty-gritty details.

4. How to revise/edit

Personally, I LOVE the revision process. Seeing a rough draft transform into a workable book is one of the most exciting parts of the process for me.

5. What to do when your work is finished

I’ll talk publishing, searching for literary journals, the pros and cons of sharing your work, finding an agent for your book, everything I’ve learned along the way.

And, because I can’t talk about writing without talking about reading, I’ll share books I’m reading, passages I love, and other bits of inspiration.

Welcome, y’all. I’m glad you’re here :)
